This Wellcare Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) Packer is used with a completion that requires an electric submersible pump below the packer to assist in pumping the formation fluids to the surface. The ESP packer incorporates aby pass or pass – through section to provide means for an electric cable to be run through the packer to supply power to the electric submersible pump below the packer.
This ESP packer is a single-mandrel, dual-bore hydraulic-set production packer. The packer has a NPT chemical injection port and one NPT port for a vent valve. The packer is set by pressuring up the tubing string against a plugging device below the packer and is locked in the set position mechanically by an internal slip. Bi-directional, case-carburized slips hold the packer against well pressures from above and below.
Release and retrieval is accomplished straight upward pull on the tubing string.

Setting Procedure
Run in the hole to setting depth (Running speed should not exceed 90ft/min.) The Wellcare WC-ESP packer is set by temporarily plugging the tubing string blow the packer and applying pressure inside the tubing. The tubing may be plugged dropping a ball to in the expandable seating sub run below the packer or by running a wireline plug to seat in a profile nipple or sliding sleeve run below the packer.
In installing where the Wellcare WC-ESP is run in tandem, one temporary plug run below the bottom packer is all that is required to set the packers. Pressurize the tubing will set all the packers simultaneously, or by adjusting the setting shear valve of each packer, the packers can be set individually.


Releasing Procedure
Releasing the packer is accomplished by picking up the tubing string to shear the shear pins. This shear value is adjustable. When the pin shear, the mandrel and cone stopper move upward cone stopper lift the upper cone which unset the barrel slip and slip lift the lower cone which unset the element and packer will completely unset then we can pull out.
